From New York City to Haiti

Weekends!

Like most of you! I live for the weekends. You are free, your friends are free and you are finally your own person. Usually, I spend my weekends running errands or hanging out with my family. Some weekends, however, I luck out and get invited to see the contryside either by friends or either through work. These are the times when you realize that life isn’t all that bad. Whether you eat the local food, climb the mountain or take a long dip in the ocean. The area I have visited the most in Haiti is the south of the country; Jacmel and Port Salut are my favorite places. I would eventually like to visit Camp Perrin, Ile-a-Vache and Jeremie, then I want to venture into the northern parts. Hopefully some time soon I would be able to reside in one of these southern towns, preferably by the beach. It’s quite a contrast going from outside of the capital going toward it, you see the face slowly transform from happy, carefree to frustrated and jaded, then you wonder “what the hell am I doing in Port-au-Prince?”
